Prepare Lady Anne for Running

5. Preparing Lady Anne for running - Lubrication
Internal Lubrication
External Lubrication
Lubrication of all working parts is important and must be carried
out before each operation.
All external moving linkage and bearings are lubricated with a
motor engine oil. The oil must be able to resist the heat and not
evaporate too quickly.
Internal lubrication of cylinders is achieved by steam oil
that is mixed with the steam in the displacement lubricator.
Before firing-up the loco the cylinder lubricator must be drained. Remove the knurled cap from the tob and slacken the drain screw the bottom two to three turns. The water in the lubricator will run out through the drain screw. Tighten the drain screw and refill the lubricator with steam oil. It might take time filling the lubricator
